Press the following at the title menu:
30 Lives - Highlight the number of players, and then press UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, START.
Sound Test (Japanese version only) - Hold A and B while pressing START.

Special Aiming Trick

In a single-player game, hold DOWN on Controller 1 and hold UP on Controller 2 to be able to duck while still shooting at standing height.
